Electric |
We are the Starkville Electric Department, serving the City of Starkville. We
hope this web site is of some help to you. For better assistance we need the
following information:
All Renters: must provide a copy
of their Lease Agreement along with an Application for Service form and a deposit of
$185.00.
All Homeowners: must provide a
copy of their Deed or Bill of Sale along with an Application for Service form and a
deposit of $185.00.
All Mobile Homeowners: must
provide a copy of their mobile home tax receipt along with an Application for
Service form and a deposit of $185.00.
Commercial Applicants: must
provide a copy of their Privilege License and a copy of the Lease Agreement or
Bill of Sale along with the Contract for Commercial Service and a deposit of $185.00.
We Need a copy of your photo ID
before we can process your paperwork. Please bring your ID to our office or mail
us a copy.
For all new customers currently residing out of town or out of state,
all requirements must be met.
A copy of a valid photo ID must be provided (a fax will not be accepted) before new service can be turned on. There are no exceptions prior to service being rendered.
Transfer of service can be faxed in with a copy of your picture ID and proper form (see DOWNLOAD FORMS above).
All services are on a first come, first serve basis.

Fees |
A meter set/new connection fee of $25 will be assessed to all new residential and commercial accounts. The charge is to partially offset the cost of setting and installing a
new account, and it will appear on the first bill rendered to the new customer.

A fee of $185 will be assessed to all customers, homeowners and rental properties desiring temporary service.
|
There is an assessed charge for accounts which have been disconnected for nonpayment. These fees must be paid prior to reconnection of services. Reconnections between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m on normal workdays is $30. During other hours the fee is $40.

A fee of $30 will be assessed to the customer's account when a check is returned and/or drafted. However, after two returned checks/drafts, the account will be flagged to accept NO CHECKS and/or DRAFTS for one year from the date of the last returned check or draft.
|
$30 COLLECTION FEE: The collection fee is required when Starkville Electric personnel must visit a customer's residence to collect a past due bill.
$100 METER TAMPERING CHARGE: Any customer whose meter indicates signs of tampering will pay this charge.
$55 ELECTRIC METER TEST FEE: Charge applied when meter is tested at customers request and meter is found to be correct.

Sanitation |
|
A sanitation fee will be assessed to all customers.
|
HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE
As part of your services the Sanitation Department provides a 52 bag roll of
heavy duty plastic bags to all customers twice per year to be used for curbside
pickup. These bags are delivered directly to your residence in the months of April and
October. If you are an apartment resident, your roll of bags may be delivered to
your apartment manager in April and October for you to pick up.
Until your trash bags are delivered, please purchase and use a heavy mil
black trash bag and tie it securely with a twist tie before placing it on the
curb.
All pickups must be placed on the curb before 1 a.m on the day of your
scheduled pickup. Ask your neighbors when trash is picked up from your street.

RUBBISH (once per week
curbside)
Leaves must be placed in plastic bags, boxes or cans. Boxes and cans must be
of manageable size to support the contents.
Limbs must be approximately 7 feet or less in length and 6 inches or less in diameter. Tree
stumps will not be picked up.
The following items
will not be picked up:
• Rubbish resulting from landscape or tree cutting services • Any construction materials • Refrigerators or air conditioners not tagged indicating Freon has been removed by an authorized electrician • Vehicle parts, including tires
CITY LANDFILL INFORMATION
Hours: 8 a.m - 3:45 p.m, Mon-Fri & 8 a.m - 3 p.m, Saturday
Directions: Take North Montgomery until it turns into Rock Hill Road. The
landfill is on the left after Collier Road.
